View Full Version : nickel 22-4 en route
I have a nickel 22-4 en route. I would appreciate suggestions for proper carry gear both for on and off duty carry as well as suggestions for stocks when it is on the job and for when it is being sociable.

For daily wear, I carry a 4" N frame in a Bianchi 5BH or Safariland equivalent. Another option is a pancake style holster, I favor Simply Rugged.

For duty carry, does not your dept stipulate what leather gear you wear?
As for grips, I favor wood grips for duty use and smooth stag or ivory for everyday. I avoid rubber or plastic grips at all costs, don't much care for them. Not sure what grips come on the M22 but adding a Tyler T grip to the small S&W grips makes a big difference.

My model 21 (essentially the same gun but in 44 special) benefited GREATLY with the installation of a Kim Ahrend set of stocks. The Ahrend stocks are the same ones delivered on the Thunder Ranch variants, and are the BEST available. I've most often carried it in a "pancake" style holster made for me by a local leather wizzard named Ed Rodek. Ed has always delivered a very high quality product at reasonable cost. I don't wear leather by anyone else.

I work for a Sheriff's Office that allows deputies to choose their duty gear.

Does Mr. Rodeck have a web page?
I'd love to see a pic of your revolver with the Ahrends.
My 22-4 wears Collins magnas and a Tyler T. A good combination. You'll like your revolver.

In that case, I would go with something like the 5BH in black basketweave with appropriate loader case and etc.
