Would a 30-30 out of a 16 inch barrel hurt the velocity severely?

also does anyone off hand know how difficult it would be to cut down the ammo tube on a 94? ill look tonight but just trying to get an idea.

Let me know how long the barrel is now. I'll throw it in quick load and get an idea for what the velocities are before, and after.

I have a 30/30 Winchester Trapper Model with a short barrel. Considering iron sights and the general balistics of the 30/30 I don't think the shorter barrel shorts the effectiveness of the round. At least not from the deer's perspective.

Is that the new rossi ranch rifle? Saw one in American riflemen. Bad to the bone. Also saw the new rossi judge revolver rifle. I'm sure our resident Taurus judge fan will be weighing in on that and whether it will come in .50 caliber or maybe howitzer size. <g>
