For years I used the recipe Elmer Keith suggested and swore by, a 240 grain cast bullet over a full charge of 2400, sparked by a large pistol primer. Eventual I became disenchanted with the 44 and started using my 45s more.

The M29 and family are good revolvers, hope you enjoy yours.

I like a WLP primer, 240-250 gr hard cast bullet and 19.5 gr. 2400. It pushes the bullet at about 1200 fps out of my 4" Mountain Gun. There are certainly hotter loads but this load does everything I need it to and is easy on the gun, brass and most of all me.
