Just went back and noticed this. Great information.

In some of my searches for information I found colt still has some of the old pages on line but no links to them. You just spider a site and find some neat stuff sometimes.

Just in case some people didn't already know. Proofhouse's information is just an automated version of the colt "Blue" book of dates of manufacture and stops abruptly at 1978. There is no definitive book on manufacturing dates after 1978. If you call Colt at 1-800 962-COLT and provide the serial number, the company will tell you when YOUR individual gun was made, but has never released total manufacturing figures post 78.

Interestingly, it appears that the 1917 is not listed.

HI GUYS, JUST JOINED TODAY. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THE VALUE OF A COLT DIAMONDBACK 2.5" 38 SPECIAL IN UNFIRED FACTORY NEW CONDITION. (no box or papers) THX in advance. DON

Max
01-14-2010, 02:15 PM
Don I'm afraid the value of a diamond back is so low that you would be ashamed to even sell it. But your in luck, I will give you a couple hundred for it no questions ask just because I feel sorry for you having to keep that diamond back.

I hope you know I'm kidding, the value of all colts has sky rocketed as late but deals are still around for those willing to spend the time looking but from what I have seen expect to get between $600 and $1k. Area and how you market it make all the difference.

Thanks for the reply max, i was originally was going to sell it but i fell inlove with it and it has become a safe queen. Not bad for a gun i paid 140 dollars for. However, if i decide to sell it i will keep you in mind. Don

Don I consider myself in the middle but no place near what todays left is. I do apologize for voicing my political opinion up front but I really think America needs Brown to win for all our good.

Let me add everyone can have an opinion without any ramifications here. We are truly open to all views.

HI Max, me again. I also own a 3rd gen. Colt SAA in new condition and A Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP. Too cold up here to do any shooting so I am waiting for spring. Hope the weather in Texas is warm. Don

Don I saw that earlier today. Great news but the real vote comes Tuesday and America needs for the people of Massachusetts to come out in force to send a clear message to this president and congress that enough is enough. Like I say I really consider myself down the middle but what I see taking place now with Coakley being supported by drug companies, insurance companies and unions it tells me this is about the health care bill and the bill does nothing for Americans. It is the most blatant case of lobbyist running this country I have ever seen.

Good discussion... I grew up in CT, so I know the politics in New England. The idea that a Republican is anywhere close in the race for Teddy's seat in Mass is simply amazing. I've been glued to the radio and TV, watching Brown's campaign. He's a very savvy politician and his opponent has been somewhat lackluster. It would be an earthquake of epic proportions if Brown wins. Stay tuned...
PS- There's a good thread on later Colt serial numbers (80's and 90's) on "The Colt Forum". It's on a sticky in, I believe, the revolver section.

Hi guys, thanks for the kudos. Seeing Scott Brown win was the most delightful day I have had in along time here in the peoples republic of Massachusetts. I understand that Scott won in Hyannis Ted Kennedys home town.

Don, you (and others on here) might also want to visit Max's political discussion site, forum-political.com. A number of us from revolverforums post over there and the conversations get quite lively. Unfortunately, our two most active liberal members just left in a huff and we are recruiting replacements. Max is now serving as the token Liberal.:D

It's all Bush's fault and we all know he inherited this mess. That is the cut and paste answer to every argument you right wings might have.
