I don't remember what it was about this gun that caught my attention. I think it was the unfluted cylinder. I always thought the unfluted cylinder was a different look. Doesn't hurt that it's a pre-lock gun either.

I also like the unflutted look.

Hello
Nice looking revolver you have there. Be careful pulling back hard between rounds as I have heard repeated use like that, will mess up the timing due to the Higher weight of the cylinder... Hammerdown

Hammerdown is correct.
The weight of the cylinder in all N frames is significantly more than the K frames and wreaks havoc with the cylinder stop, when fired in more than a casual manner. This is one of the reason most custom target revovlers are built on the K frame, they last longer before going out of time.
How long does it take for this to wear a revovler out? Don't know. I do know S&W was aware and addressed the problem when they introduced the endurance package on the N frames.

Thanks Hammerdown and StrawHat.
I have a question for you in this reguard. Does this apply to the 625's in 45ACP that everyone is using for USPSA shoots? None of them is fired in a casual manner.

I believe all the 625's have the endurance package. Even so, the N frames will eventually batter themselves out of time, it may not be in your or my lifetime but constant hammering will take it's toll. Any firearm that is used extensively eventually goes down hill. I had a S&W M 19 that was rebuilt twice. First time was when I abused it with full magnum loads and the second time was minor, endshake and timing problems. Both the result of 10 of thousands of rounds out the barrel.
Now, I take my time shooting, but then I was a training officer and shooting about 5 days a week.
