Here's one of my recent additions, found in an awesome gunshop in the middle of nowhere in NC. It's a 25-2 in .45 ACP that shoots superbly with my favorite target loads (185 gr factory Federal SWC and 185 gr Atlanta Arms HPs). I had "Kurac" from the S&W Forum make me a set of "Coke-style" target stocks with medallions. I now have a superb .45 revolver to shoot up some of the Army .45 ammo I've accumulated. And just in time for Christmas, too!

My favorite "Brand X" gun of all time. Wouldn't trade or sell mine for anything. Those stocks are just beautiful!

The 25-2 is one of the best looking revolvers ever made and yours is even nicer with the new grips. I have a 25-2 and like that it can be used with a variety of handloads and all find the bullseye! I have never tried the lighter bullets. I use cast bullets from the Lyman 454423, 454244 and the SAECO 453. I have had good luck with all three bullets in ACP and AR brass.

Hello Bob
Keith Brown makes some great recreations as far as his Roper's go they have Far Better Grain contrast Than the Original Roper stock's that were made by Matheis Gagne. I think Gagne's Goal was more on comfort to the shooter and better control for shooting. Shown below is my 1935 .357 Registered Magnum wearing an Original set of Gagne's Roper stocks. Matheis Gagne was Hired by Walter Roper back in the late 1930's time span to produce wood stock's for the Camp Perry shooting Teams. Roper took his Target stock idea to S&W when he worked for them, But they did not want to Make any Target stocks so he elected to Hire Matheis Gagne a former clock and cabinet maker to produce them. Many early shooter's who shot competition at Camp perry had Roper's stocks on their Guns. I came across these while at a gun show one of the vendor's who is a friend of mine had them on a model 27-2 with an 8-3/8" Barrel. I asked to see the gun and he wanted to know if I could use it ? I said "The Stock's" and he remarked how he wished he had a set of original S&W Target stock's to place on it as he felt these Hindered the sale of it. I told him to place it under his Table for a minute and went out to my Truck and returned with a set of nice Grain Factory S&W Target stocks offering them up to him. He wanted to know if I needed Boot with the trade, and I told him if he was Happy I was Happy as well. ;) He did not know what he had as these will never be sold or Traded, as I have never had any other Target Stock fit or feel like these do, and these have Far More Grain definition than most other Original Roper's that I have seen in the past, Perhap's the original buyer of them requested a Higher Grain definition to be used in them, They are shown with their own original finish that Gagne held the secret on of how he mixed it to get this style of finish on his stocks. I will never know, but I am very glad to have them as they make the gun Point and shoot very accurate... Hammerdown

Always admired the looks and functionality of the Ropers. They look great on your old magnum.
