I wanted to know if any of you have a Federal Firearms License. Do you think it's worth the hassle?

I have often thought about obtaining an FFL, but never got off my lazy ass to do it. I want to know what others thoughts are on it.

Thanks.

RJ I just spoke with a guy this past weekend about this. This guy owns a tactical store that sells everything special forces/police related scopes knifes etc. I asked him why he didn't sell guns, and he said he didn't want to deal with the feds. The way he explained it to me, is that the ATF can show up at anytime anyplace including your home and just search your shit and look for problems. He also told me the profit margin on a new handgun didn't warrant the troubles that it would take to get the license.

RJ it does give the feds an open door to your home or anything else. If you really plan to sell guns I could see it but otherwise I couldn't. I use to work on all the local DEA guys cars and I can tell you they are cut from a different crop. They could be nice as hell about one thing and completely off their tree on another. Stories I hear from local gun dealers are just amazing to what extent they go to be ass's.

NO! It's not worth the hassel. As a non-ffl holder you have more rights and freedoms than one who holds an FFL. Last time mine expired I didn't renew it, and I sleep a lot better now.

Done deal. I'll keep paying $50 a pop to get my new "toys" transfered here.

The bookwork required by the ATF is a PITA, and if your records aren't accurate they can pretty much do what they want with your collection. Our biggest worry when my dad died was that they said they could come into the house and take everything and just throw it all in a closet somewhere in their custody if the books weren't right. We transferred all the remaining inventory from his "Business" books to this personal collection in my mom's name now.

WHOA!!! I cannot believe they are getting $50 by you. Our shops average $20 + $8 state.

Been there, done that.... Was on the gun show circuit and still never made any money. Could never get inventory as the bigger retailers would always be given preference.

Gave up the license and had to send in all my records to ATF. Still wondering what they did with them.... (never mind, deep down I know what they did with them).

Anyone on board have a C&R license? I believe it is a bit easier than the full fledged FFL to use but you are restricted to curios and relics that are not old enough to be considered antiques.
