OK guys (and guyettes). Where is the discussion about Ruger revolvers? I'm rather fond of them, and apparently so are a number of other folks since Ruger isn't looking at Chapter 11. But you wouldn't pick up on that from reading here.
I have one or two of the traditional single action Rugers - a couple of .357s, a .45 with three cylinders and a Single Six or so.
But some of the best - at least in my opinion - were the Security Sixes and Speed Sixes. The SP101s are a favorite - especially in .22 LR, but the .357 has a lot of merit. And then there are the .32s...:p
I don't have any experience with the GP guns, but I'd sure like some of you folks to entice me to pick up one or more.
Then there are the Redhawks. I had one some many years ago in .44 Mag. - and sold it. I must admit I've been tempted to pick up on one in one of the newer Loudenboomer rounds.:gun:

I, too, am a big fan of Ruger revolvers. I have a Super Blackhawk Hunter, .44 mag. of course, and a GP100 .357. Also bought a Bearcat for my wife. First new handgun I bought was a Security Six that I wish I still owned. Most of the revolvers on my wish list are Rugers: .45 Blackhawk, .45 Redhawk 4" barrel, SP in .357, Single Six, and maybe a Blackhawk .41 mag., and maybe a Vaquero.:D

I would love a Redhawk .45 as I am convinced that there is nothing tougher in the canoe or woods.

I did the Ruger thing when I was younger. Had two Security Sixes, a Super Blackhawk and one of the first Redhawks and Super Redhawks.
They were all good firearms but just did not fill a niche for me.
The 44s were just too heavy for what I wanted them for and the same could be said for the Security Sixes.
Having lost my love of most magnum cartridges, I do not have a need for the Ruger revolvers anymore.
They were well built and stout. Just not what I need at this time.

I think that's what I like about them. When I hold a Ruger, I feel like I have something really solid in my hands compared to most other revolver. This could just be a subjective thing on my part.

I only have one at home right now. I had a Rugerr BH Bisley in .45 Colt. Sent it off to Dave Clements, had the barrel shortened to 5 1/2" and a few custom features added. It wears a set of SK Custom mesquite grips. I have a EPS Tom Theepersons crossdraw rig for it in roughout finish with matching belt and cartridge slide. Haven't shot it a whole lot just yet, but its one of my very favorite handguns.

Yeah, I expect that is probably at least close to what Paul had in mind. :)

Have to agree with OFallon, that is one nice looking set up - even for a Ruger!

I just got mine back from the gunsmith and took it to the range last weekend. It now has a 7lb double-action and 2 1/2 lb single action pull. Firing double action I was able to keep all the rounds in the black at 15 yards, which is an accomplishment for me. Here's a target I shot with .38 Specials before I had it worked on. I don't remember if this was 15 or 25 yards, though. The small holes are from a friends .22.

Popeye - I've seen your positive comments on the Speed-Six and Security Six revolvers - but I didn't think you'd risk upseting your Model 60 by wearing one around the house.:)

I'm a little surprised, too. I thought the J-frame was your preferred gun to carry.

I carry the S&W Model 60 all day at work.
At home, its usually a Ruger Six series revolver.
