About fifty years ago I bought my first Ruger Single Action, been hooked on them ever since. I especially like the .44s and .45s. Here's som of my .44s:

The extreme right hand gun is a .44 Special converted from a three-screw .357 Magnum Blackhawk. Work was done by Dave Clements and Doug Turnbull.

Wow, nice. Any of your Rugers "stock."

Beautiful. I love Rugers, especially the single actions. That one on the left is sweet. Did Turnbull do the color case hardening on the other two, also? Now if they'd just make a nickel plated Vaquero.

I was fixin' to say this one was, but its not. I bought this a couple of years ago from an ad in the paper. It had had the safety conversion done. I removed that and in the process added a steel Old Army grip frame and a Dave Clements' wide trigger. (A .357 Magnum Blackhawk.)

Other than that, its stock.

But, after a little thought, here's one that is:

It's an early three-screw Single Six that I just recently stumbled upon at a gun show back in October. It's still stock.

I beg your pardon, I didn't mean to ignore your question. All of my Ruger case hardening is by Doug Turnbull.

Yep, its: www.turnbullrestoration.com I never sent anything to him directly as most of the work was being done by Dave Clements or Bob Mason gunsmiths.

Thanks Bob. Since the "Heritage" guns from S&W came out, I've got a burr in my saddle for a case hardened frame on a S&W. I just now have to go out and find the appropriate "Project" gun.

I'm thinking I can find a descent deal on a Model 10. I really would like to see how it looks after I'm done. I don't want to do this to a gun with any "collector" value, so I'm looking around for a descent project pistol.

I have bookmarked the site for when I'm ready.

Thanks again.

He does fantastic work. Everything I've seen of his is just gorgeous. Do you mind if I ask what it cost?

Most of my work was in addition to work done by others as part of a package. As I recall, the cost of case hardening was, at the time, around $200.

Thanks, Bob. That sounds pretty reasonable and sure looks good.

Finally got to shoot one of these today. It was a .44 Super Blackhawk. Very cool. I'll be a revolver convert yet.

Try a bunch of different ones before you buy one. Though my main home gun is a semi-auto, revolvers, to me, are just plain fun.
