Now when it comes to 22's I am bias. S&W and Colt's are just some of the best made. Not to take anything away from the Ruger which is much more affordable but in the terms of quality I have four S&W 22's, two in Magnums and two in LR. My favorite without a doubt is a 617 that has no less then 10k rounds through it and still looks and shoots like new. I have found that it seems to shoot better if you let the barrel get a little dirty and let it stay that way. Not sure why but I have seen others report similar findings, I think it just seals the tube better.

Hey Max
I Like the classic K-22's and I have several. Here are a couple of my Favorites that are real special to me..Hammerdown

This one shipped in Early 1947. Notice the large Mushroom pre-War style extractor rod end. It is the Only Post-War K-22 I have seen with this feature and it has a Low Four digit serial. It Came with it's original Magna Grips serial numbered to it but I Like the target ones shown better..

This Little Gem shipped in November 1964. It was special ordered to be Single action only with the .0500" Target Hammer and Trigger. It also has the Rare King Red Post Optional front sight blade...

Those are some very nice pieces of hardware. I'll get some photo's together of some of my other 22's. Nothing as nice as you have but I do have a couple of 48's and one 17.

Nice. I've looked at some of the newer Smith .22's, but they are expensive. I'll have to stick to Rugers for now.

Hello Dave
You have to beat the bush's and be able to Pounce on them, when they come up. Believe it or not the Rare single action only Model 17-2 shown above was swapped for. The dealer that had it wanted a Early Pre-War M&P with a 5" Barrel. I had just Picked one up a couple of weeks before I ran into this guy for $350.00 and he thought this K-22 had Internal action problems due to it's single action only mode. I had heard of these coming out of the factory but never seen one, so the trade was brisk and I feel I made out like a bandit.:D The best gun I ever found was the one I was not looking for..H.D.
