Howdy
Many Years ago I came across this Nickel model 57 S&W In .41 Magnum. I Like the .41 Magnum, But felt it was Lonely with a Big Brother so I Picked up the model 29-2 in .44 Magnum to go with it. Recently I came across the Model 27-2 in .357 with the odd 5" Barrel so now have the Magnum Trio of Nickle Big Bores... Hammerdown

Hey Max
I got a Few. My angle is to tell the wife, that they are her Life insurance Policy each time I bring another one home. That way I get to enjoy em while I am here and Who cares what she does with em when I am Gone from this Old world...:p H.D.
Before my Jeannie passed away my guns and bikes were things she never said a word to me about. She loved to shoot and ride. I am a lucky man to have had her for the 20 years I did.

I didn't know they made a nickel .41. I thought they were only stainless.

Hello Max & Oriondk
My wife is very easy to get along with as well and usually never sticks her nose in my gun business. If she did I would not have maried her to begin with. She is a great shooter her self and often likes them as much if not more than I..:thumb: H.D.

The model 57 in .41 Magnum came out in 1964 In Nickel and blued, and the Model 58 Fixed sighted revolver came in 1965. The 657 came later and I am not sure of the date without looking it up as I have No stainless revolvers only Nickel and Blued..H.D.

When I was in the Navy and stationed on Guam in ohhhhh 1977ish I bought a matched set in a display case in .41 and .44 large frame. One was nickel and one was stainless. I asked why they weren't both the same and at the time the guy said one-or-the-other, I don't remember which, was not available in nickel. I can't remember if they had matching serial numbers or sequential. I wasn't a collector I just wanted them as a safety weapon for pig hunting in the saw grass. Lotsa pigs shot there with a big handgun from the not-so-common "Laying on your back shooting between your legs" position! :D:D

Hello
It sounds like your stainless Gun May have been a Model 629 if it was in .44 Magnum or if it was a .41 magnum it would have been a 657. I don't have any stainless but can tell you that most of the stainless models were first offered in Blued or Nickel carbon steel material. Here is the correct Presentation case that my 57 Lays in and I have an exact duplicate for my 29. The Instruction sheet and Paperwork is always under the upper foam liner in these cases...:) Hammerdown

Mine was in a case like that but it held both guns, the 41 and the 44, and had a brass plaque from SW with the serial numbers certifying they were a part of the set. I distinctly remember being disappointed when they came into the dealer that they weren't both of the same finish. One was nickel and one was stainless. Loooooong time ago!
