I am also an avid rifle shooter, competing in Tactical matches plus 600yd F Class and 1000yd F Class. I have been to known to compete in 3 gun matches also.

I may be shunned for this but ... I came to REVOLVERS to gab about wheel guns.
Yes, I have long guns ranging from pre revolvutionary to Remingtons but not why I joined here.
Maybe if they were revolving rifles!

Colt had a revolving rifle during the Cival war.

Colt had a revolving rifle during the Cival war.
Yep, originally issued to Berdan's Sharp Shooters. They got rid of it as fast as they could.
The only one used with any notariety would be the one shot by "Bull" in the movie "El Dorado".
Colts also made a version as a revolving shotgun I believe.

seems like enough interest for a rifle section

I like guns, I wouldn't argue against a section on anything that went bang.

The other problem with any revolving rifle is how you hold it. Unless you have leather sleeves your support arm does NOT go to the forearm but rather supports your firing hand somehow. If you grab the forearm the blast from the cylinder gap will bite you and if there is a chain fire it will really bite you.
Easy to see why they were not real popular.

It seems like those of us who like long guns now have a section in which to post so we don't have to hijack other threads!
Thanks Max!

woo hoo thanks max
Now I'll have to dig out some of my long guns. My favourite of course a little savage hmr 17 with a leupold 3-9x40mm scope. I can draw smiley faces on targets at 100 yards with this thing. I really do like the acutrigger they have with the adjustable pull.
