we are trying to find angel a gun and while looking at a couple .38's angel saw a derenger with i built on holster and loved it it was a .22 magnum. so whats the ballistics on it? is it a viable carry weapon?

My personal opinion would be to keep looking for a .38, preferably one that can take +P loadings. The .22 mag, while better than a .22 Long Rifle is not a very effective stopping round unless you shoot for the head, which is the last thing you need to try for in a life threatening situation.
