I have had good results with crocus cloth on a piece of plate glass. If it is real rough start with a fine grit wet & dry paper and then graduate to crocus cloth. You are not really trying to remove anything, just polishing it.

Do not change any of the angles on the trigger or whatever you are polishing.

Good luck.

I always start with the appropriate grade of paper, then take that to 1000 wet and dry and then hit it with some rouge and a buffer.

That depends on the surface, if it has some fair size scars you may have to start with 400. If it has minor handling marks you can start with something like 800 and see how that does. Now this is all wet and dry paper, you need to wet sand stainless until you get to the very fine grades like 1000 or 2000. You really only want to use course enough to remove the damage. If you choose too course then you do more damage then you repair so always start higher then you think you need and work your way to courser if needed to remove the imperfection. You will also find some nice stones that work well to polish to mirror finish but they lack the ability to get in any tight areas.

Depending on where the "scratches" are they may not need to be totally removed. I would go with the suggestion Max made and start out with the finer grades of paper. Polish it some, reassemble and try it. You can always polish it a bit more but adding it back is a pain.

To me, $20 is a good chunk of money.

yeah im not saying 20 is nothing but the way the gun is now hunting would be almost out of the question i really have to work the trigger to make an accurate shoot
