Oops.. sorry... couldn't help myself. :)

Christine and I are doing our restricted firearms course on Nov. 23rd.

As long as we pass, I will be looking for my first handgun with the intention of trying some IPSC competitions.

At a friends suggestion, I think I might go for a Kimber Eclipse, but would like to see if I can't find one to try out first before pulling the trigger on the purchase.

Cheers,
MikeP

I tell you Mike make sure you shoot before you buy it can and will make a big difference in your purchase. Its almost like buying a pair of shoes, you have to try them on and walk in them before you buy. The way it feels in your hands, the way it shoots etc, plus Kimber is super proud of their shit you don't want to get stuck with at 1k pistol you don't like to shoot.

500 S&W when you positively absolutely have to blow a hole big enough to drive a truck through. It helps if they are behind a brick wall or some other type large structure also.

I've made the mistake of buying the gun that was on this month's magazine cover (it was a stainless Beretta 92F) and the closest I could come to accurately hitting a target was a wish!!!

I won't buy a gun unless I've shot it so an attached range is almost mandatory.

See, now I have a 92fs and I love that gun. It shoots a big ragged hole in my target all the time.

You have to move farther away than three feet from the target.
