Hello
Ever since 911 there has not been one day I am not armed when out of my house with my S&W-J-Frame. I feel we need to take care of our selfs as our Government Proved how Vunerable and Unprotected we were that tragic Day September 11, 2001. In the Winter Months I carry the High Polished Chrome refinished Pre-30 made in 1958 Below. It is chambered in .32 S&W Long caliber and carries one more round than the .38 Chief special making it a Six shooter. I have handloaded stoked rounds for this that have Proved effective at my range in Test's I have conducted. In these winter Month's I usually carry the revolver shown in a S&W Factory shouder rig, or a nice Pocket Holster made by David Bullard of Texas. When the Intense heat shows up in East Tennessee I change out carry Guns to my Model 431 P.D. shown below in .32 H&R magnuim Caliber. It is a Light weight revolver only weighing in at 11 OZ empty so it is little bother to take along. I usually carry this one strickly in my David Bullard Pocket rig and it too is stoked with handloads and has a capacity of Six round's. At night my-J-Frames lay silently on my Bed stand in close reach and I hope there never is a time I really need it, but if it should come along I am fully Ready to protect my family and myself as "I Don't Dial 911 Until The shootin is Done".. So, does anyone else carry a -J-Frame daily ? Regards, Hammerdown

Hello Dave
With Hand loads I can get the groups pretty small and it hits at Point of aim at the 20 Yard line. The Model 431 PD you have to hold a Little High as the Magnum makes the Point of Impact Lower than the .32 S&W Long cartridge..H.D.

I'm really enamored with the new .327 Federal and am waiting patiently for them to be approved in California. Cripes, it's been over a year and the dang SP101 still isn't approved in that caliber.
Those J-frames are nice, though. I shot Don's J-frame .357 at the range and was surprised that the recoil didn't bother me. The .327 Federal would be great in a J-frame.

Hello Dave
I am awaiting S&W to bring it out in a K-Frame sized revolver. I long for that one.. Hammerdown
I do carry a J frame daily but mine doesn't look nearly as good as those. :)

Is that a .38 or .357, Max?
Daily - Sig P226, but as already mentioned in another thread, awaiting arrival on a S&W 642 as the B-up.
I will evnetually go with either the Sig P250DC in .40S&W or the Beretta PX4D Storm Sub-Compact in .40S&W. These pistols are way behind on orders and distribution. I'll wait.

Thats the older 649 and just a 38 but it is much lighter then the 357 version because of the small barrel. It fits nicely in my pocket and weighs well under 2 pounds fully loaded. I have a series 80 1911 I carry also but what a difference a pound makes when you carry it all day and have to conceal it.

Max, being in California I can't carry, but I talked to a number of people that carry and was surprised to learn about the weight issue. I know my youngest brother switched from a .357 to a Bersa Thunder .380 because of weight. I'm surprised how much the difference of a pound or so can make.
I do also have a Colt defender which is a stainless slide with an aluminum trigger housing. It is .45 and also weighs under 2 pounds with 7 rounds but Rspencer has had it for a while. He wanted to buy one and I told him to try mine before he jumped in not knowing for sure he would be comfortable with it. I honestly don't mind the series 80 though and the 4" barrel gives it more muzzle velocity and greater accuracy over the Defender.

Kurt,
As you may recall I do like the J frame but my carry gun is an "N" frame 45 ACP with a 4" barrel.
Haven't felt the need to condense the package yet.

Let's see it!!
I just want to know how you conceal an N frame 4". I would love to carry one of my 28-2's but can't figure out a way to conceal it.

I use a Bianchi 5BH and wear it just behind my hip.
I have also worn a pancake holster.

HD,
No need for glasses, (unless to hold a bit of red wine celebrating a 4" M25-5), that is a converted M28-2. The one I described in the Lounge in the Custom gun thread.
I did all of the work except reboring the barrel. I still need to restamp the barrel with the cartridge designation but have not yet gotten to it.
This is why I need a 4" M25-5, as a mate.

I've carried a 4" model 629 a few times, and have also carried a 4" 657. Usually under a vest or light jacket.

Hello Straw Hat
Good Luck with that. I Loked and Looked for a 4" Model 25-5 and finally found my Tennessee Highway Patrol revolver with a 4" Tube but it is way too nice to deflower as it remains unfired from it's birth date of 1989..:cool:H.D.

Well I guess all that looking paid off... The Tennessee HP ordered how many??? Yours is one of a few!
I only need the ordinary kind of M25-5. Beginning to think a 6" and a hacksaw will work for me.
Some day it will arrive.

Thank you O'Fallon, except for the larger bore in the barrel, it is a plain old M28-2. It just shoots a larger and heavier hunk of lead.
Next, I intend to make up some loads with the 235 grain Keith SWC and the 280 grain Keith inspired SWC. Not sure I will have enough front sight for the heavy one.

I believe this one is coming to me in a trade:

I believe this one is coming to me in a trade:
Model 49, just like my normal daily carry J frame only I have the 649 stainless model. Light weight, 5 rounds of 38 and easy to conceal. Added plus that the hammer never snags on clothes.
