Alright...I have an opportunity to by a brand new Taurus PT1911 .45 for $536. I am more familiar with the Taurus revolvers than I am their semi-autos so I would like some input from forum. Some cursory research seems to indicate that the going price is about $600 on the market. Few people I've talked to about it, who are knowledgeable on handguns of this type, have told me that they are really good firearm and fire well. Anyone here have experience with this moded and brand name and can offer up some worthwhile input?? Good buy or not??

Ok if you look at some of my older threads it will show how i fell about taurus and how it has became my brand of choice, just wish they would try to make an ar.....
Now the pt1911's commonly traded around here for mostly around the 600 range i have seen 2 go for as low as 450 heavily used. Everyone i have talked to has loved the gun, never heard of an accuracy/feeding ejecting problem with them. I personally haven't shoot one but i have handled one at the shop, more than most who own them and i have to say, i really like it and would not hesitate to suggest it for my own sister to carry(which i have)

My step-son picked up one a while back. He brought it on his last visit here and shot it for the first time. 200 rounds of ball with nary a bobble. Shoots to POA at about 15 long steps for him. A smidgen to the left for me, dead center for my step-son. He was thrilled with it.

Well went ahead and ordered it; should arrive sometime this week. Got some family coming in over the labor day so hoping it'll be here in time for a family range day. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Well my .45 is on the way; got this email traffic from the seller earlier today. Must admit I am fairly anxious to shoot off some rounds at the range. Most excitement I've had all day but my days here at the office are fairly boring in the big scheme of things.
"Ed, I received the money today and the gun is on the way!!!! Please let me know when you receive it and especially WHEN YOU TAKE IT OUT AND SHOOT IT!!! I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!!! Take care and I'll talk to you soon!!"

1911's are my favorite semi auto. You're going to like it, I'm sure.
Nothing sweeter then a 1911 in the auto flavor. :)

DUHHHHHH
LOL mycar the desert eagle has nothing in common with the 1911 other then they are both semi auto handguns. Otherwise they are complete different animals.

Max, I think mycar was responding to my query about what is a 1911.
As a revolver guy I sometimes forget.

Range report! Took my new 1911 to the range after work yesterday. Totally impressed with this firearm! Accurate to the end, exceedingly manageable recoil, and a great fit in the hand! Really enjoyed firing this weapon and look forward to the next time I can get out there to the range with it. Taurus has made one excellent firearm with this one and I am really glad I purchased it!
