new guy

Hello, to all. Glad I found this forum, looks informative. Just started shooting pistols as it is very hard to find a place to shoot my hunting rifles-a 300 winchester mag and a 300 ultra mag. Bought a Taurus Raging Bull 444ss in 44mag to shoot regulary at the range and it broke the second time I cleaned it. The cylinder fell off, and I lost a part. Their Customer service told me i could expect this and did not make me feel positive about the firearm so I got my money back and now own a Smith&Wesson 629 classic in 44 MAG. I get it on 7-7-10 and am looking forward to sharing how it shoots as well as learning from you good folks here at the forum. Lots of loads and i can also hunt whitetail with it. Very exciting! Happy holiday and good shooting

Welcome aboard. Sorry, to hear about your luck with that Taurus. I, myself, keep thinking about a raging bull in .454...but stories like these keep me away.

You'll enjoy the 629. I have a 29 that I really like a lot.

Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay!

The 29 is a classic. A friend has one with a 3 inch barrel that really barks. Great fun!

New Member!

I am new to this forum, but have been shooting guns all my life. I dont think that horror stories should keep you from getting a 454. Guns much like trucks are prone to have some issues. You can buy one and be the greatest truck on earth, but your buddy buys the same thing and it is a piece of crap. Same thing with guns, IMO. I have only had one Taurus in my time and it was a pretty decent shooting pistol. It got traded for something that I could not even tell you what it was. I for one will be getting a Taurus 44ss6 as soon as I can round up the money. I need a hand cannon. Ruger and Smith have gotten to far out of my price range. Thanks for letting me into this forum, I will be lurking here for some time to come. Cheers!

Sorry,

I was going to tease out Cattleman45's introduction into it's own thread only to realize he was commenting on Mike's misfortune with his Taurus.

Welcome to the forum Cattleman. Glad you found us.

Welcome and sorry to hear of your Taurus issues. Back in the 1990s a shooting Buddie of mine had a medium frame Taurus 357 mag and we shot that thing to hell and back. It never skipped a beat. but 44mag is a whole different critter. Maybe it is the rare case of older actually being better, It seems like there are more stories of lemon's amongst all builders these days or is it just we can communicate easier quicker today like in no other time?
